EBLUL’s German Member State Committee held a meeting with President Neasa Ní Chinnéide last week at the Festival of Languages held in Bremen to discuss future plans. The marathon festival, running from 17th September to the 7th October, covers all the world’s languages. "It was a real pleasure to meet the representatives of all of the minority language communities from the German states," said Ms Ní Chinnéide. All of the expert members of the MSC gave conference papers at the Festival of Languages. MSC President and Board member, Simon Faber, gave a public radio interview on EBLUL and the minority language situation in the EU. Objectives of the language festival included, “familiarising the general public with the idea of the linguistic diversity of our world; to demonstrate that this diversity is a positive value of humankind and needs to be preserved; and to show that the preservation of linguistic diversity is at stake because of the growing peril of language endangerment.”
